Verges Rome Christmas Party

As usual I am very behind in my posting.... I have all these "drafts" saved I just never got around to acutally posting anything.
So lets all go back and remember December 2009.......

This year our office Christmas party was at the Roosevelt Hotel downtown (The old Fairmont Hotel). The hotel was decorated for Christmas and it looked beautiful! The party was lots of fun. This year was the first Christmas that Corey has been working with me. So of course Corey had to stand up and do the traditional "new person" speech, I think the few drinks he got in before hand helped him out:)
After dinner we all went down to the Sazarac Bar to enjoy some more cocktails, good times. :)

Thanksgiving 2009

This year I went with Adam to his parents place in Ms. for Thanksgiving. It was a nice time, the whole family was there except his little sister. I even finally got to meet his younger brother Joe and his wife. We had lots of delicious food, played outside, made a big campfire and ate smores:)

Miami-November 2009

Back in November Adam had a radiology conference to go to in Miami so I figured I had never been to Miami why not tag along?

We stayed at the most beautiful hotel I have ever been to, The Biltmore in Coral Gables, the pool is the 2nd largest hotel pool in the country which was nice since I spent most of my time by the pool while Adam was in lectures:)

Of course we ventured down to South Beach as well, nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live in Miami.

Adam and his stone hard crabs......:)

Halloween 2009

Yes I know it's two days before Christmas and I am just getting around to posting about Halloween but better last than never right????

Halloween this year was lots of fun. My running friends Sraah and Mark threw a party at their place in the French Quarter that was a good time.

Adam went as a giant whoppee cushion and I went as Carmen Miranda, of course my mom slaved over my costume and it came out awesome! For some reason though the Whoppee Cushion was a bigger hit???

This year was the innaugrual Jazz 1/2 marathon! Since this was my first "race" back after my knee surgery I did a realy team where we each ran between 3-4 miles. My team was "team JACK" - Jennnifer, Andrew, Catherine and Kirsten. We did great and won our mixed division.

Destin Triathalon

I'm a little behind on my blogging, going back in time to August 2009
(this should have actually come before the knee surgery blog....)

I was already registered for the SanDestin Triathalon when I got the news about my knee but I decided I would still do it anyway. It is a 1/2 mile swim, 20 mile bike and 4 mile run.

The plan was to swim and bike and then walk instead of running. Of course that didn't happen, as soon as I put on my running shoes my legs just started running. It was prob more of a limp, hop, walk, but it got me to the finish line! I finished in 2:04:28 just 10 mins slower than the previous year. Not bad for being hurt.
Myrna and Joe also competed in the race and Stacy came along for support:) We had a good time!

Bum Knee

Well this all started back in June, my knee started giving me some trouble, first I could still run 3 miles before the pain, then 2, then when I got down to less than one it was time to pay Dr. Hoffman a visit...
I expected the usual, "Ice, rest, cut down on the running" inflammed speach. But what I got was "I think you tore your Meniscus, you need an MRI" I was like come again???

So I got the MRI and it seemed like the concensus was yep torn meniscus, time for surgery.
I was a bit freaked out, I mean this is my knee we're talking about and I need it to walk, not to mention RUN! I've never had surgery before but I said if it will make me better sign me up.

You have to remember by this time I had not run in about 2 months so I was getting desperate:)

Friday August 28th my mom and I showed up at Baptist hospital for my knee scope. The experience was great, everyone was very nice etc. except for the guy who had to put my IV in TWICE.... ouch. Once I got my IV I was knocked right out and next thing I knew I was in recovery with Dr. Hoffman saying he was wrong... my Meniscus wasn't torn it was really "Plica"
Which from what I understand is something about some tissue that was rubbing on my knee cap. anyway all I know is that he cleaned it out.
I used crutches (adam's that are for someone btwn. 5'11-6'-6) for about 4 days and then I have been limping around since then. I am going to therapy though and getting more motion back every day. The pain isn't too bad, I don't sleep well at night nothing a little vicodine can't fix though.

Hope to be back in action in a month!

Catch 22 Tuesday 2 mile run

Last tuesday was yet another Catch 22 2 mile run at Audubon. Even though I couldn't run this one I went out there to volunteer. Once again Santilla and I got the job of handing out the scoring tags at the finish line.

The after party was at Le Bon Temps and was lots of fun as usual:)
