From where I left off

Well seeing as my last blog was March 22nd, I figured today April 22nd would be a good place to pick up where I left off.

The past month has been filled with lots of excitement and fun times!

At the end of March Adam and I participated in the Oschner 5k. It was the first race I had done in a long time. I ran with Adam the whole time, something I don't think I have ever done. I was proud of him he did just fine for not having exercised in a really long time.

After the race we hung out with friends and then ended the night in Adrienne's backyard drinking beer and telling fun stories.


The end of March was also exciting because we put an offer on a house!! Yep that's right a real grownup house! After going back and forth a few times we finally came to an agreement and the house went under contract the first week in April. Closing date is April 30th which is just NEXT Friday! I am so excited I can not even express, I'll be going from just under 500 s.f. to 3,000 s.f. .... yipee for space!!!!

Of course I'm going to be sad to leave my little apt. after 7 years:( I've got lots of memories there. It will be an adjustment living with Adam full time as well. I'm sure I'll have some stories on that in blogs to come.

The beginning of April also brought the annual Crecent City Classic 10K. This year I was lucky enough to drive some of the elite keynans on a course tour and get to hang out with them. They were a great group and it was so neat to meet such fast runners! On race day Adam and I ran/walked together, we made it through the whole thing and enjoyed lots of Abita beer at the end.

Easter this year was perfect weather. I attended church with my parents at St. Francis on State street then we met up with Corey and Adam for lunch at the Red Fish Grill, it was delicious!

The weekend of April 9th was French Quarter Fest! Andrienne, Andrew and I spent Friday afternoon in the quarter, and along the river front enjoying the food and music. We even took a little ferry ride over to the westbank to check out Algiers Point. Good Day:)

To end things last weekend was the IronMan New Orleans 70.3. It was strange not to be participating this year. Next year hopefully I will be injury free with a new bike and ready to go! I spent all day cheering on all my friends that were participating.

Way behind

ok so to say it's been a while since I last blogged is an understatment... .it's been since last year!

To play catch up...

Christmas was nice, Adam spent Christmas morning with my family for the first time then we headed to Ms. to be with his family later that day.

New Years- we spent new years at a party with Adam's brother and sister-in law and their friends, it was a fun time!

SUPERBOWL!!! The Saints WON the superbowl..... which lead to weeks of celebrating... enough said.

Like the Saints winning the superbowl wasn't enough it was followed by Mardi Gras which equals 1 + week of drinking and fun. I survived yet another Mardi Gras.

Mardi Gras 1/2 marathon- I made a return to running and ran the Mardi Gras 1/2 marathon unexpectedly= with no training longer than 3 miles. It might have not been the best decision but I had a great time during the race even if I was hurting for days after... it was a good hurt:)

February was also a sad month. Two wonderful men were taken from us. John, Adam's across the street neighbor and friend was in a tragic accident and Lyndsey, My friend Ashley's brother lost his battle with cancer. Both of these guys were way to young to go and they are missed greatly.

That brings me to where we are now... March.

March didn't get off to the best start. The first Sunday in March I was riding my bike up on the levee training for the IronMan.... well 6 miles into my 40 mile ride the levee board police in his SUV was "looking at something else" and HIT me. Yep hit me.

After a scary ride in the ambulance and a trip to the hospital I escaped with only a hurt shoulder and some scrapes and bruises. Which meant a sling for two weeks , could have been so much worse.

Sad news though my bike didn't make it:( RIP bike.............

Now that I am up to date, maybe I can keep up with this darn thing!

Aspen, Colorado 2009

Adam and I went sking in Aspen back in 2007 and we just knew when we decided to go sking this year that we had to go back to Aspen.

We went for a whole week the week before Christmas,just the two of us and it was wonderful. We rented a condo right in the middle of downtown Aspen, about a block from the base of Aspen Mountain complete with a fireplace and mountain view. The town was all decorated for Christmas complete with snow:)

On our last ski trip I broke my hand the second day we were there, this trip was so much better. I had a wonderful ski instructor "Steen" and I acutally learned how to ski this trip. I had such a good time, it's much more fun skiing without a cast on your hand:)

We did some other activites while we were there, we took a snowmobiling tour which was awesome. the mountains are absolutley beautiful. Tried ice skating (we only lasted about 15 mins).

It was an aweseome trip and I can not wait to go back to Aspen again!!

Verges Rome Christmas Party

As usual I am very behind in my posting.... I have all these "drafts" saved I just never got around to acutally posting anything.
So lets all go back and remember December 2009.......

This year our office Christmas party was at the Roosevelt Hotel downtown (The old Fairmont Hotel). The hotel was decorated for Christmas and it looked beautiful! The party was lots of fun. This year was the first Christmas that Corey has been working with me. So of course Corey had to stand up and do the traditional "new person" speech, I think the few drinks he got in before hand helped him out:)

After dinner we all went down to the Sazarac Bar to enjoy some more cocktails, good times. :)

Thanksgiving 2009

This year I went with Adam to his parents place in Ms. for Thanksgiving. It was a nice time, the whole family was there except his little sister. I even finally got to meet his younger brother Joe and his wife. We had lots of delicious food, played outside, made a big campfire and ate smores:)

Miami-November 2009

Back in November Adam had a radiology conference to go to in Miami so I figured I had never been to Miami why not tag along?

We stayed at the most beautiful hotel I have ever been to, The Biltmore in Coral Gables, the pool is the 2nd largest hotel pool in the country which was nice since I spent most of my time by the pool while Adam was in lectures:)

Of course we ventured down to South Beach as well, nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live in Miami.

Halloween 2009

Yes I know it's two days before Christmas and I am just getting around to posting about Halloween but better last than never right????

Halloween this year was lots of fun. My running friends Sraah and Mark threw a party at their place in the French Quarter that was a good time.

Adam went as a giant whoppee cushion and I went as Carmen Miranda, of course my mom slaved over my costume and it came out awesome! For some reason though the Whoppee Cushion was a bigger hit???

Jazz 1/2 marathon October 31st 2009

This year was the innaugrual Jazz 1/2 marathon! Since this was my first "race" back after my knee surgery I did a realy team where we each ran between 3-4 miles. My team was "team JACK" - Jennnifer, Andrew, Catherine and Kirsten. We did great and won our mixed division.

I had a great time and even go to run with Adrienne:)

Kathleen and Nate's Wedding- Oct. 24th 2009

Back in October my good friend from college got married in Dallas. I was a bridesmaid in the wedding so Adam and I made the trip to Dallas for the wedding.
