Radiology end of year dinner

Adam finished his radiology residency this past June!! After 5 long years of hard work he is finished and he has accepted a job with Ochsner that he starts in August.

On June 6th the Radiology dept. had their annual end of the year dinner and Senior roast at Windsor court. It was a good time and I enjoyed when they "roasted" Adam:)

Back to the Beach 2 Miler May 29th

Time to go back in time again! I'm getting caught up on my blogging:)

Back to the Beach 2 mile race was Friday May 29th out in Kenner at the Back to the Beach festival.

It was a good time. I decided I had never run less than 2 miles for a race so I would run the 1/2 mile. I ended up winning the 1st female and got to run through the NOTC banner for the second time ever!
Then came the 2 mile, I started out alright, feeling good, then I hit the 1st mile at 6:45 which was a bit fast so of course I slowed down for the second mile and ended up comming in 5th female at 14:05. Not my best time, not my worst time, just o.k. Santilla finished 1st female and Doug 2nd Male. That's me in the blue tank top...

After the race I listened to the Bag of Donuts with Santilla, Doug and Drew.

Here are some pictures of us with our "nice" awards.

Bar-a-thon

ok so I am way behind in my blogging....bare with me we're going back in time.....

May 15th Barathon

Quite possibly one of the most fun nights of the year. 6 bars 6 miles 6 beers.

You start at Le Bon Temps then proceed to run to 5 other bars, at each bar you drink a beer. The most fun part is that there is no route to follow so drunk people are running free all over uptown, through audubon park etc. It really is a great time! Oh and there is the Watermelon sacrifice at the end of the night. I can't even explain it you just have to see it for yourself.

This year Corey joined me for his 2nd Bar-a-thon and we took our time, had lots of fun. Next year though he's on his own, I want to win a trophy!:)
Here are some photos, enjoy.

The Kitten

Tuedsay night about 4am I was awaken by a cute little kitten crying outside of my window. He is absolutley adorable so I decided I would try and keep him around.

I bought him some food and he scarfed it down in seconds, poor thing was prob. hungary!

Yesterday I spent about an hour sitting by where he hangs out under the house getting him used to me. Of course I had some treats and a toy to help me out with that! He's starting to come around though and he's getting close to me! Maybe today he'll let me touch him:)

Memorial Day weekend

This past weekend was a busy one.

Started with the Greek fest 5k on Friday night. The weather was great, normally this race is super hot and I always do terrible but not this year. I don't know if it was becuase Adam, George and Stacy were sitting at the finish line, if it was my new Catch 22 ninja gear(including boy shorts that ride up in the front and totally show off your butt), or because I ran the first 2 miles with Adrienne.. but I got another PR!

I was stuck at a 23:00 5k all last summer so my goal for this summer was to go under 23:00. Well I ran 22:23! That makes 2/3 5k's under 23:00 in the past 2 months. I'm happy with that:)

After the race we all went into the fest and enjoyed lots of beer, gyro's and greek music. Good times!

Sunday we went to George's childhood home for a crawfish boil/pool party. The weather had other plans though and we ended up eating our crawfish under a tent while it poured rain. Oh well it was still a good time. Adam became very attached to this one crawfish, he called him "the marlboro man" b/c that's what he smoked. He was sad when it was time to toss him in the boil, I even had to do it for him..

Later on I left Adam at the pool party so I could meet Keri, Vanessa, and Mary for dinner before the annual One Eye Party. We ate pizza at some place next to the Red Eye then walked on down to the party. It was fun as usual seeing everyone who I only see once a year. It's def. a different crowd from the very first year 6 years ago though, now everyone is married, kids, just more mature in general... well maybe not more mature......

ZULU 5K

Saturday night was the 1st annual ZULU 5K race held at the ZULU den on Broad street. The race started at 6:00 and I decided to do it at 5:15, last min. decision but a good one!

The race itself was a bit warm, OK it was freaking HOT. I could feel the heat coming off of my skin, not to mention the route was a bit questionable, as in, not marked so a few turns we kind of guessed on.

There were a few of us out there representing Catch 22, Kelley and Sean came in 1st and Doug and myself in second with Axn placing in his age group. Santilla and Patrick came out as spectators as well as Doug's wife Jennifer and Sean's mom.

The after party was a great time, good music, dancing, red beans, watermelon and beer. Not to mention the awards were awesome, hand painted ZULU coconuts! This one will def. be on my calender next year.

Caters

This blog is for my friend Kathleen. I mentioned that is was caterpillar (or "Caters" as Adam's 6 year old twin nieces like to call them) season and how I hate running this time of year for fear of one falling on me or heaven forbid I step on one.... gross!
Anyway Kathleen said that she was not familiar with caterpillar season, she lives in Dallas.

So here's the scoop...
Caterpillar season in New Orleans is April/ May when these little furry looking stinging bugs infest the trees! I mean sometimes they cover the trunks, branches etc. It's quite disgusting. Not only do they infest the trees, the fall from the trees ALL over the sidewalks, some places it's hard not to step on one. People do all kinds of funny things to keep them from getting in the trees like coveing the trunks in foil... I don't even think that stops the, these things are soliders....

Foil covered trees...
